Any seasoned employee has been there.  Things are going instant creditcard approval right along then the interview jumps the track. Next to walking into a school assembly in your pajamas nightmare, the job interview going south would probably be the next worse nightmare.  We all know that how well you do during the interview process in answering questions is important. Just as important is getting the interview back on track.

Are the questions really tough? Are you having problems getting your thoughts in line before answering?  Or maybe it is just the chemistry between the interviewer and you aren’t mixing well. There can be a dozen reasons why this is happening and it doesn’t matter why. You quickly need to realize where the interview is headed and then get it back as quick and smooth as possible.

Clear Choice Staffing Solutions has found some articles on this subject and offer you the following tips on how to handle the situation if and when (and it probably will) happens to you. Today is part 1 of a 2 part series.

Go Easy On Yourself:  It is common to feel like you’re under the microscope during an interview, (or an instant loans with no credit check inquisition as it has been called by some). Don’t be so hard on yourself though. There is a good chance that you are over-thinking the situation and most likely, you’re doing okay. The most experienced interviewer knows that this is nerve-wracking for the candidate, no matter how confident and qualified they are.

Stay Cool Dude: In an earnest desire to leave a good impression, or request a do-over, some of us become a yakker. Nervous chattering starts rolling out of nowhere and you can’t seem to stop it. BIBO aka Breath In, Breath Out. Stop and breathe in deep, smile and take a moment to collect yourself and your thoughts before you go on to answer the question. This is one of those times that less is more.

Explain and Rephrase:  An interview is a two-way exchange, so if you believe you have misspoke or need to enhance your answer, don’t hesitate to do that. During the interview, it is your opportunity to provide depth to any previous answer, even if the interview has moved on. Simply state that you would like to clarify you answer to the online loans missouri previous question and do it. Body language can be a helpful guide during an interview. The nod for example is permission to go forth and elaborate your answer further. Be cautious not to dig a hole though!

Be Slow To Judge: Believe it or not, you aren’t the only person in an interview under pressure. The person interviewing is too. They are handed the task to find the right candidate and some of us don’t play with a good poker face. Don’t judge by the look on their face how your interview is going. And just like you, they may have a million other things on their mind such as a report deadline or a fight at home that morning.

Listen With Care:  Put your laser-focus on high while being asked questions. If you catch yourself drifting during the interview, concentrate harder. When you drift, you can miss out on some important information if you’re already thinking ahead about the end results of the interview.

To Be Continued ….. check back next week for part 2 of this 2 part series!

Congratulations graduate! All the preparations and efforts have loan me some money paid off. You got a job interview scheduled. Now what? Well of course you want to nail the interview, but you want it to end with a job offer too.

Here at Clear Choice Staffing Solutions, we understand that and so we have done a little research and offer you four steps that can help you not nail the interview, but make you a top contender for the position too:

Do Your Homework: Yes, we understand you just graduated and homework is the last thing you want to do, but alas, you need to. Do a thorough research about the company. You want to be as familiar with this prospective employer as possible so that you can carry on an intelligent contribution to the conversation.

This means you don’t just memorize facts about the organization either. As you do your research, find answers to these questions and use the answers to contribute to the conversation part of the interview:

1). What light does the company view itself?
2). From an employee, what makes the company different from their competition?
3). What make this company known for?
4). Has this company a news subject lately, and if it has, for what?
5). What king of clients, initiatives, products and projects is this company known for?
6). payday loan kansas Look for the culture and values of the company.
7). How large is the company?
8). Find out who the key players are in the company and how their backgrounds fit into the company.

What is the purpose of this research homework? The prospective candidate that appears to have knowledge and base understanding about the company will stand out over the prospective candidate that doesn’t seem to know anything other than there is a job opening.

Verify You Are A Good Fit:  Along with your research homework on the company, do your research on the position and be sure you fit the description the company has. Prior to your interview, line by line, carefully review the job posting and determine how the experience and skills you have will fit the job description. Have any supporting evidence that you meet the requirements and excel at each one.

If you find that you aren’t the perfect fit for every aspect of the position, there’s no need to be alarmed. The goal you want to aim for is to be a strong match that can become that perfect fit.

Dress Rehearsal: The quickest way to Carnegie Hall is to practice, practice, practice and the same holds true instant online approval loans to get the job you want. Practice your interview questions and answers. Once you have and feel like you have it down good, practice again.

By having somebody ask you possible questions and rehearsing your answers, the process will give you a more effective, polished interview. Questions you should be prepared to answer are things like “Tell me about your past where you demonstrated skills that would pertain to this position”. One question that you may be uncomfortable with is your salary expectations. Or why you aren’t at your last job any longer. Instead of hoping the subjects don’t arise, find an answer that you’re comfortable with and tell the truth, then practice it over and over.

Interview Them: Keep in mind that the interview process goes both ways. Just as you should rehearse you answers, have a list of questions rehearsed to ask as well. You should be evaluating the company and the position just you are being evaluated.

By going in with a well-rehearsed list of questions, you’re not only going to be ready to find out what you need and want to know, but you’ll show that you’ve come in prepared.  This alone speaks loudly to interviewers.

Clear Choice Staffing Solutions reaches out to our clients to learn their business so that we pay day loans online same day can better help them with their staffing needs. One thing we have learned in the distribution industry is that isn’t an easy job managing or operating a DC (distribution center). The logistics professionals are constantly balancing between responding to customer’s needs while meeting management’s demands.

Beyond a doubt, the management skill set for this job must be experienced and highly advanced. A white paper recently released by the University of Tennessee on Supply Chain Management. It provided an insight on the management of a DC and suggested ways to make that job easier while making everyone happy.

Information for this white paper was drawn from three resources, which included large retailers, manufacturers and third-party logistics providers:

1. Audits performed by the University

2. Contributions by professionals that managed the logistics of large warehouses with demanding clients

3. Contributions from the professionals with extensive management duties in the industry supply chain

What came from this research is that there are eleven themes within a DC. Each has an equal and important part of a DC operation. For each theme, there was a short discussion offering supply chain professionals suggested best practices to consider while developing a strategic DC management plan.

One thing that had to be clearly recognized is there are many different styles of DCs. They may pick single items or they may pick payday loan no brokers cases. They may have manual picking or automated picking. There are also many different sizes from small square footage to large monster size warehouses.

It was a daunting task to cover this wide of a scope for this white paper, but the team was able to create a list of best practices for a wide range of DCs using these 11 themes as a guideline:

1. Receiving

2. Picking/Order Fulfillment/Shipping

3. Lean Warehousing

4. Cross-Docking

5. Metrics and Planning

6. Warehouse Information Systems

7. Warehouse Layout and Space Optimization

8. Warehouse Network Optimization

9. Safety and Security

10. People

11. Sustainability

First and foremost, an important key to any successful DC is to have the right people doing the right job. Looking at how leading companies’ succeeded in five areas of managing talent within their DC operations, it was found there were 5 common principles:

  1. Assess Their Needs
  2. Identify Job Candidates
  3. Hire
  4. Train
  5. Develop
  6. Retain

One thing that we know here at Clear Choice Staffing Solutions is for any warehouse operation: It is essential that everyone be engaged at the task at hand and participates in continuous improvement. The self-directed workforce is success for some companies, wherein their supervisors are problem-solvers and the associates are responsible for the payday loan no teletrack direct lender hiring, work scheduling and job rotation, normally done by supervisors.

It was also noted during this white paper research that leading companies invested in training for both the new employees and ongoing training for existing employees. These leading companies also were able to retain quality employees and less their turnover in three major ways:

 A). Pay a fair wage

B). Show employee appreciation

C). Create an atmosphere of ownership by having the employees involved in DC improvements

So Where Do Staffing Agencies Fit In With Distribution Centers?

The task of any size DC operations’ personnel planning is a complex task. The topics involved are out of range for this white paper and probably are best covered in other publications targeted at those specific issues.

What was discovered, that DCs of all sizes and styles used the services of staffing agencies. They build a relationship with the agencies so that they can become a comprehensive part of the organization. Such as vetting potential personnel and even provide part of the training.

With an agency like Clear Choice Staffing Solutions, we invest the time to learn our client’s and their business practice. We learn the dynamics of what makes them tick. If they aren’t ticking well, we get inside and find out why and help them get a formal plan in place.

Remember the song “School Days”?  “School days, school days. loans until payday Dear old Golden Rule days ‘Reading and ‘riting and ‘rithmetic Taught to the tune of the hick’ry stick“. Well those days are disappearing from America’s education system, if some people have it their way.

The Clear Choice Staffing Solutions blog this month has been focused on college and high school graduates. Are they ready for the workforce? What is the best education avenue for them to take? Maybe vocational training is better for some of them and what happens to those who don’t get a high school diploma?

Today, we’re going to look at Common Core State Standard. What exactly is it and how is that going affect the workplace when the students that are taught that way get to the workforce. If you’re like most people that are reading this blog, you probably only have an ambiguous idea about what Common Core State Standard is. Results from a Gallup Poll indicated that almost two-thirds of American hasn’t even heard about it, much less understand it.

In the early part of 2009, 48 of the states along with the District of Columbia jointly agreed that for children to be ready for college, a new standard in teaching was needed. Thus CCSS (Common Core State Standard) was born.

After receiving input from business leaders, online loans reviews education experts, researchers and teachers, the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers wrote and published the CCSS in 2010.  With the final draft of the CCSS adopted, the California State Board of Education was the first to sign on. As of today, not all states have adopted this new standard.

So What Is Common Core State Standards Anyway?

It is a set of educational standards links all learning to 10 Career and College Readiness Standards that are deemed necessary for students to be successful when they reach college and the workforce. It is also designed to help teachers concentrate on the overall picture, giving them a big picture of how they teach is connected to a student’s past and present academics.

So right away, we can see that the CCSS strand won’t be accomplished in a single year. Many are questioning how well this new standard is going to work because of low test scores from the first states that have implemented the new standards. The AP way of keeping score is going to go away and instead, schools will rely on grade-point average along with teacher recommendations until this new standard gets worked out.

How Is The Workforce Going To Be Affected?

The 100 guaranteed long term loans literary approach to language arts will be replaced with informational text. Those that are in favor of CCSS say this is the type of reading that is used more in the workplace anyway.  And with math, memorizing concepts will be replaced with critical thinking as well as problem-solving skills. Again, something is used in the workplace.

Okay, many of us feel like we’ve done okay with our education. After all, we’ve created, developed and invented many of the things that kids are using today, right? But then when was the last time you used a William Shakespeare piece at work? Or recited the multiplication table while generating a report for accounting?

It is too soon to tell just how well this new education standard is going to do in the workforce. We’ve got to see the kids going into kindergarten through a minimum of 13 years of school and then college before we’ll know. Some of the proponents for CCSS probably won’t even be alive to see if it is a success or not. What we do know, and you’ve had the opportunity to read about here in our blogs this month, that what we’re doing for our kids today isn’t working all that well.

High School and College grads are going to be walking payday loans same day payout across the stage this month and next month. And many will keep on walking right on to the job search, handing out resumes and setting up interviews. So just how important is that resume?

What is on your resume is important nobody is going to argue with that. This is where your education and experience are listed for prospective employers to see. But did you know that the type-style you use is really the first payday loan providers important thing?

Your résumé is that piece of paper where you reflect the best things about yourself and many people use it to express themselves too. And Clear Choice staffing Solutions is here to tell you that isn’t the place to do that.

According to Brian Hoff, an expert that spoke to Bloomberg about resumes advises that Helvetica is the best font for a resume. Why?

“Helvetica is so no-fuss, it doesn’t really lean in one direction or another. It feels professional, lighthearted, payday loans alberta honest,” said Hoff.  “Helvetica is safe. Maybe that’s why it’s more business-y.”  And he’s not the only one that recommends using the Helvetica font.  A creative writer in San Francisco, Matt Luckhurst, prefers Helvetica too.

The Courier type-style is outdated. This one looks as if you got your old high school typewriter out of the closet. And Times New Roman is a lazy font according to experts like Hoff.  You may as well put on your old sweat suit loans with bad credit and no bank account for the interview with that font.  And don’t even think about going with Comic Sans type-style.

However, the results from a study done by Wichita State researchers found that Times New Roman represented positive traits in the job applicant. So while Clear Choice Staffing Solutions sees a mixed message of either Helvetica and Times New Roman as the best resume font, we definitely would say that Comic Sans is a definite no-no.

In August 2010, Bob Herbert, a New York Times Columnist wrote a column how payday loans co the rate for high school graduates was less than 50 percent for the black male. He was quoted as saying: “The astronomical jobless rates for black men in inner-city neighborhoods are both mind-boggling and heartbreaking. There are many areas where virtually no one has a legitimate job.”

So, the question that Clear Choice Staffing Solutions and many others ask is: Without a diploma, what happens? Well according to the report that Mr. Herbert got his information from 5 years ago holds true still today:  Young black men without a high school diploma are more likely to be found in a cell than in the workplace.

This isn’t just about young black men either. All men of all races between the ages of 20 to 34 are affected when they don’t have that high school diploma. The numbers are larger according to the report “Collateral Costs: Incarceration’s Effect on Economic Mobility”, for black male. For them it is 1 in 3 and for Hispanic males the numbers are 1 in 14. For the white men the numbers are 1 in 8.

When this report was released, there were over 2 million Americans incarcerated.  That may not seem high considering the overall population, but the number behind bars in 1980 was 500,000. America 100 guaranteed online loans has more people behind bars than 35 of the top European countries. For this blog, we don’t have the number for 2015, but it has most likely grown since 2010 and regardless the numbers, it is too many.

No doubt that state budgets are strained with the number of housing incarcerated people. The lasting impact on economic progress goes beyond state capitals though. The consequences are tremendous for the former inmates and their families too. How? By not being able to earn decent wages and move up the economic ladder to pursue the American Dream.

Not only do those who have been former incarcerated have difficulty finding a job and earn less, but studies have shown their children will struggle as well. Over 20 percent of those children are most likely to be expelled or suspended and when they aren’t in school, they’re more likely to be doing things they shouldn’t. And so the chain of reaction goes on and on.

What can be done to stop this ongoing trend? What can be done to turn things around? Experts recommend the following 5 actions:

ONE: Proactively connect x-inmates with the labor market by way of education and training. Assistance with job search and provide follow-up services to help them keep those jobs.
loan on line
TWO: Enhance x-inmates’ financial conditions by putting a cap on the deductions such as court-ordered fees and fines. Expand the EIC (Earned Income Tax Credit) so that non-custodial, low-income parents are included.

THREE: Use screening process to sort x-inmates by the level of risk they pose, allowing lower-risk offenders the opportunity for community-based, high-quality mandatory supervision programs.

FOUR: Allow inmates to use earned-time credits, educational, vocational and rehab program participation toward making a successful reentry into the community and the job market.

FIVE: Use other sanctions besides prison for lesser crimes such as weekend incarceration which will allow them to keep working.

It’s not anything new that those with a high school diplomas or higher will earn better wages from legitimate work. This alone reduces the assumed need to commit crimes. That itself will eliminate the stigma that comes with being incarcerated, for both the criminal and their families.

At the end of the day though, the best thing that these young men (and women) can do is stay out of jail. Don’t do the crime and they won’t have to do the time. Society needs to take the steps necessary to ensure everyone gets the education they are entitled to in this country.
